How many hamsters does it take to fill up a shelter? Apparently, 35.

No joke here – we just took in 19 adorable little hamsters and have 16 more waiting for placement. Each hamster needs at least basic veterinary care, like an exam and deworming. On top of that, seven of the hamsters are anophthalmic (which means they were born with no eyes), meaning they'll need extra special care to help them thrive. These ones are lovingly referred to as "Eyeless Whites".  Hamsters generally have poor eyesight and a complete loss of eyesight is not a great handicap to them. The eyeless whites are profoundly deaf as well as blind, but they are just as easy to love!

While this may not be a major medical case in the typical sense, looking after so many small critters is still a BIG strain on our resources! Can you help us give each tiny friend the individualized care they deserve so they can go on to find loving forever homes?

Email updates showing the hamsters' progress will be provided to those who donate towards their care.

Care requirements include intake exams, deworming, new enclosures for each hamster, bedding, food and husbandry supplies and daily care until the hamsters are cleared for adoption.

If the amount raised for these hamsters exceeds the combined cost of their care, funds will help other animals in need.

Please note that when donating to more than one animal, your credit card may be flagged for unusual activity. We recommend waiting a few minutes between transactions to prevent this error. Thank you for your patience!
