Meet May, a sweet senior dog in need of a lot of TLC.
May is one of a group of small senior dogs who transferred into our care from another organization. They all came from the same property, where there were far more animals than could be properly cared for. All of the dogs we took in were suffering from major medical issues, including 11-year-old May.
Sweet miss May has several issues that need to be addressed. She is currently taking supplements to help with her liver metabolism; she is in desperate need of dental surgery; she has several mammary masses that need to be removed; she is awaiting x-rays to determine the condition of her joints; she still needs to be spayed; and, on top of all of that, this 11-year-old fluffball is morbidly obese.
Body condition in small animals is rated on a scale of 1-9, with right in the middle at 4-5 being an ideal weight for the animal's size. May is rated at a whopping 9/9, weighing in at 26.9kg. We suspect her ideal weight is closer to 16kg!
