Spike is a 5-year-old Miniature Pinscher with a heart as big as his determination to overcome the odds. Spike was facing euthanasia due to a severe urinary blockage caused by bladder stones; but thankfully, a compassionate veterinarian contacted us just in time, and Spike's care was transferred to AARCS. We immediately arranged an emergency transport to get him to our Veterinary Hospital.
Upon his arrival, Spike underwent an emergency cystotomy to remove the stones. We discovered that a stone was lodged in his urethra, making it nearly impossible for him to urinate. After skillfully retropulsing the stone back into his bladder, our team removed around 90 tiny stones—an astounding number for such a small dog!
Spike’s journey to recovery doesn’t stop here. He still needs a major dental procedure, a neuter, and a weight loss diet to help him shed some extra pounds. But first, we’ve focused on resolving his urgent urinary issues, ensuring he’s no longer in pain.
Can you help provide Spike with the ongoing care he needs to live a happy, healthy life? Let's give this sweet little guy the second chance he deserves!
Email updates showing Spike's progress will be provided to those who donate towards his care.
Care requirements include emergency cystotomy surgery, x-rays, neuter, dental surgery, specialty diet, medication and daily care until Spike is ready for adoption.
If the amount raised for Spike exceeds his cost of care, funds will help other animals in need.
