At just six months old, sweet little Norma is facing a big problem. She suddenly began experiencing unexplained vaginal bleeding, prompting our veterinary team to run several diagnostic tests and start her on antibiotics. The bleeding stopped, but shortly afterwards she started to have a change in her stools, wasn't eating much, and wasn't acting like herself.
Our veterinarians now suspect Norma may be facing pyometra – a dangerous uterine infection. Unfortunately, the only way to confirm this in guinea pigs is to try treatment and monitor her response. Norma is now back on medication for at least two weeks, and if she improves, she will need spay surgery. Surgery and recovery can be extremely risky for such small critters, but Norma deserves every chance at a healthy, happy life.
Can you help us cover the costs of Norma's medical bills and ongoing treatment? Every donation, big or small, gives this little fighter a chance to thrive!
Email updates showing Norma's progress will be provided to those who donate towards her care.
Care requirements include x-rays, ultrasound, antibiotics, spay surgery, recovery support, follow-up veterinary care and daily care until Norma is ready for adoption.
If the amount raised for Norma exceeds her cost of care, funds will help other animals in need.
Please note that when donating to more than one animal, your credit card may be flagged for unusual activity. We recommend waiting a few minutes between transactions to prevent this error. Thank you for your patience!
