Dilly, a recent intake puppy, has tested positive for parvovirus! Parvo is a highly contagious and potentially fatal disease that spreads rapidly among unvaccinated dogs, especially in vulnerable puppies like her. Dilly arrived at AARCS alongside several littermates, including Basil, Pepper and Cumin, who are being closely monitored but appear outwardly healthy at this time.

Dilly is currently receiving injectable medications and is under careful veterinary observation. Should Dilly’s case progress or transfer to her littermates, each day of life-saving care, including fluids, medications and round-the-clock monitoring, will cost thousands.

We believe every life is worth fighting for, and we are committed to giving Dilly every possible chance at survival. But, we need your support. Can you help us ensure Dilly grows up to be the happy, playful pup she’s destined to be?

UPDATE – July 23: Dilly is doing much better than last week and has transitioned to oral medications. However, we have unfortunate news. Dilly’s siblings, Basil, Cumin, Rosemary and Cayenne, are now sick.

They are all being treated for parvo, and Cayenne was even taken to emergency this weekend.

Dilly, Basil, Cumin, Rosemary and Cayenne are being treated and monitored by our amazing veterinary team, and their combined care is extremely expensive. We have increased our donation goal to cover the cost of Cayenne’s emergency visit and the Spice Girls’ medical costs.

Pepper, a previously mentioned littermate, continues to be monitored and is doing well at this time.

We believe every life is worth fighting for, and we are committed to giving the Spice Girls' every possible chance at survival. But, we need your support. Can you help us ensure they grow up to be the happy, playful pups they're destined to be?

Email updates showing the Spice Girls' progress will be provided to those who donate towards their care.

Care requirements include in-shelter quarantining, daily veterinarian exams for reassessment, subcutaneous injections of medications and fluids, bloodwork and transition to oral medications once stable.

If the amount raised for Dilly/the Spice Girls exceeds the combined cost of care, funds will help other animals in need.

Please note that when donating to more than one animal, your credit card may be flagged for unusual activity. We recommend waiting a few minutes between transactions to prevent this error. Thank you for your patience!
