Koa is a 10-month-old retriever mix who came into our care after a spay/neuter clinic with our friends at the Canadian Animal Task Force. While she was there for a routine spay, it quickly became clear that Koa needed much more.
Koa is suffering from demodex mange, a skin condition caused by microscopic mites that can wreak havoc on dogs with developing or weakened immune systems. For Koa, it’s meant thin, patchy fur; constant itching; and a painful secondary skin infection. Her skin is sore, irritated and in desperate need of relief.
Koa is now receiving medical treatment to help soothe her painful skin and oral antibiotics to treat the systemic infection, but she has a long road ahead.
We're in this for the long haul – and we know you are too. Can you help us make sure this sweet pup feels comfortable in her own skin again?
Email updates showing Koa's progress will be provided to those who donate towards her care.
Care requirements include medicated baths for topical treatment, oral antiobiotics for systemic treatment, follow-up veterinary exams and daily care until Koa is ready for adoption.
If the amount raised for Koa exceeds her cost of care, funds will help other animals in need.
