Sweet, gentle Lola was originally part of our Spay Neuter Assistance Program (SNAP). The plan was to provide basic veterinary care, including her spay surgery, vaccinations, parasite control, and permanent identification, and then send her back to her loving family. Unfortunately, on her exam, we noticed Lola's back leg was injured and the muscles had severely atrophied.
We took x-rays and discovered that Lola has a dislocated hip and it has been like this for a while. Due to the severity of the injury and her need to see a specialty surgeon, Lola's guardianship has been transferred to AARCS. Our hope is that the surgeon can perform a Femoral Head Osteotomy (FHO) surgery in which the head of the femur, or the ball in the ball-and-socket joint, will be removed to relieve Lola's pain and restore mobility. If FHO surgery is not successful, the leg will have to be amputated.
Despite her obvious pain and discomfort, Lola is an incredibly sweet dog. Her tail wags for every human she meets and she wants nothing more than to be loved. Can you show Lola the love she deserves by pitching in towards her medical fundraiser?
Email updates showing Lola's progress will be provided to those who donate towards her care.
Care requirements include FHO surgery/possible amputation with a surgeon, pain medications and daily care until Lola is ready for adoption.
If the amount raised for Lola exceeds her cost of care, funds will help other animals in need.
